Product Background

 Hepatocyte growth factor activator inhibitor-2 (HAI-2) is a bi-Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor containing two Kunitz domains (KD1 and KD2), first identified in placenta and gastric carcinoma cells with a homology to HAI-1, and has an inhibitory activity against hepatocyte growth factor activator (HGFA). HAI-2 also represses the other serine proteases including kallikrein and coagulation factor XIa. Down-regulation of HAI-2 is involved in cancer progression; for examples, the low expression or genetic silencing of HAI-2 has been found in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), prostate cancer, melanoma and gastric cancer. Moreover, HAI-2 is capable of suppressing cancer cell invasion and metastasis, including HCC, melanoma, prostate cancer and endometrial cancer.
